I am so excited about the Tuesday and Thursday homework!  In the past I sent home a yellow reader that went along with our phonics goals to everyone in the class.  I felt like that wasn't meeting the needs of all my children- some needed more challenging books, etc. This year I will be sending home leveled readers twice a week.  This can count for their 20 minutes of reading for the night. 

Remember the three "R"s for Tuesday/ Thursday homework- Read, Record, Respond.  Your child is expected to read their leveled reader out loud to someone, record it in their reading notebook, and respond by writing me a letter.  They can write about questions they had about the story, something they found interesting, a connection they had with a character or maybe the book reminded them of a personal experience and they can share that with me. 

Homework is due the next day!

If we have no school Monday, then we will only be doing leveled readers on Thursday.
